There is a nationwide lack of professional support for those no longer seen to be in crisis after fleeing the abuse. 

This can lead to:

• Social isolation which often relates to poor mental and physical health. 
• Financial hardship often due to fleeing abuse and starting over. 
• Lack of understanding of our experiences and life-changing impact including struggling to access/maintain employment.

Our solution

We support Women who have experienced historic domestic abuse who are still living with the devastating and life changing impact which includes mental ill health, physical illness such as fibromyalgia, loneliness, isolation, financial hardship  and trauma. Women who have experienced domestic abuse and wish to connect with people who have shared experiences. Women who feel they are held back, who want to move forward and those that want to help others.

We promote our services through local organisations such as Social Prescribers, Domestic Abuse services and Solicitors and through speaking at network meetings to ensure people know about Moving Forward.

There is no support within Lincolnshire specifically for survivors of abuse who are no longer in the abusive relationship and no longer seen as being in crisis. The majority of victims escaping abuse suffer from debilitating trauma-induced issues. On top of this, the average waiting list for mental health support on the NHS is 2 years long. We have close links with many agencies and can signpost to these to get additional support.

We consult on all levels and have an open policy re funding etc.
